You can find the calculations used in the Weld Joint Calculator in the Engineer's Handbook here:

Anyone using the weld calculator built into inventor should back it up with hand calculations based on the Shigley method or whatever accepted method they are held to for what ever governing body they adhere to for their product.

Incident# 90750, I have open with Inventor. Their standard calculation method produces a result that is anywhere from 70% to 90% of the real answer and is incredibly unreliable, I don't know how this issue hasn't been found sooner. I have a case opened with the development team but was told from our CAD support company not to expect an answer any time soon on the issue.
