Weight of part linked to size?

Hi everyone,

I need some help, I'm not sure if this is doable.

I have some mesh screens that are 110mm x 110mm. I have weighed them and assigned the weight to the piece.

I would like the weight to update as I change the dimensions, so that way I can estimate the weight for a 4m x 10m mesh screen.

How do I go about doing this?

Thanks

Assign a material with the appropriate density.

As the model changes - the weight will automatically update.

For example, surely you are not modeling your screen mesh as actual geometry (but rather, as a fully dense solid body with cosmetic screen appearance) - so you can't simply apply say steel material.  So you have to calculate a lower density for your custom "material" properties.

Once you have defined this special material - you can save to a library and use it anywhere.

Attach an example file here and indicate actual weight.

Setup new material with correct density for the mesh.

You can setup all different mesh.

Use Appearance to make mesh without cutting al the holes:

Hi JD,

Thank you for the response!

No definitely not modelling it as individual geometry. I've learnt in the past this is too intensive on the system. I am using solid plt 1mm thick.

Please see attached part, I have copied a material, renamed it and played around with the density till I get the weight i measure on our scale.

Hi Frederick,

Thanks for the response!

Yes I have been playing around with the density till the weight matches what I measured on the scale. I have attached the part in my response to JD.
