Water simulation

Recently saw a video in youtube of water simulation in Inventor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX5Xctq-quU). Can someone teach me how to do it? Thanks

I think Mark Flaylor did something like this at Autodesk University several years ago.

 

A search here http://au.autodesk.com might turn up the paper.

 

I think it involved in animating a couple of dimension Parameters in Inventor Studio.

A search here http://au.autodesk.com might turn up the paper.

 

I think it involved in animating a couple of dimension Parameters in Inventor Studio.

JD is right, that is exactly what I did.  I had to use several "dummy" parts that simply existed to be sculpted with a work plane that was parametrically controlled for an offset.  So if you watch the video, this is what is really happening....

 

Inside Inventor Studio....

pipe is made slightly transparant

dummy part is made visible

parameter is driven in studio for offset of the work plane that controls the sculpt in the part file

 

lather, rinse, repeat for each part/scuplt interaction over the timeline.  Definately thinking outside the box on this one to showcase the fluid.

 

Here is a simplified example of a glass filling with a tasty beverage...

Dear Mark Flayler 

 

I tried to reproduce your simulation and I used the same offset parameter for the work plane (200mm). However I am unable to change to starting offset value to 42mm just as yours. Please see the screen shot below. I attached my assembly file here. Thanks

What if you set it at 42 in back in the part file?

If I set it as 42 in the part file, the starting parameter can be 42. However, I saw Mark use 200 in his part file and he was able to set the starting value at 42. I do not know how he managed to do that.
