View cube and nav bar sporadically missing, greyed out

What to do when view cube and nav bar are greyed out? Sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't. I don't personally use the view cube, but do use the orbit command on the nav bar. F4 for the orbit command still works, though.

Any specific condition that your Inventor model may be in that seems to cause this?

Hi Chris,

The behavior is not known. Are you running any non-Autodesk publish add-in? If yes, please try turning them off and see if it makes a difference. Another thing to try is to run Inventor Reset Utility (All Programs -> Autodesk -> Inventor 2018 -> Tools -> Inventor Reset Utility). Please note that it will reset all Inventor 2018 settings back to install default including custom UI.
