Vault project in inventor has red arrows "new edits available"

Hello,

Have these arrows in Inventor under the Vault tab and it concerns me. Is this normal or should it be something to be concerned about.

It may mean that the file was changed by someone on a different machine, and then checked into the Vault.  So now your locally saved copy is out of date.  It would only cause problems if the changes that were made to the Project file affected your paths or libraries... something like that.  Without knowing who changed it or what they changed, it's difficult to say if it will cause any problems.  In any case, a Refresh from Vault should get you the latest Vaulted copy of the project file.  Simply Right Mouse Click over the project in your browser and select Refresh File.

I hope this helps.  Good luck!

This should be of some concern if your project file was modified in Vault by anyone who should not have changed that. Otherwise, ask your Vault administrator (or project lead if this is one project file of many in Vault) about the change.

We don't have Vault administrator really. There is only 3 total cad people been just kind on us to figure it out.

Do believe this is an issue below but don't know how to repair it.

Shows the project in vault is at the root

But in Inventor under vault map it shows it is somewhere else.

When i try to change that get this error

Don't understand what it is talking about? How could the project not have a workspace?

The Vault root directory deviates from the Inventor Working path.

You must specify the directory, where your project file is located in the Vault and not the Inventor working path. The project file is located in the root directory ($) of the vault. The Inventor working path shlould be an sub folder in the root directory.

You should check your content center file directory. I think with your current settings you can cause some bad issues with your content center files because the directory is not set correct. The yellow tringanle in your screen shot.

  • Change the working path in the project file to your working path of Inventor. I guess "$/Systems/Inventor".
  • Set the project root to the $ folder.
  • Create an libary folder in your root path with the name "Content Center Files".
  • Change the directory for the Content Center files in the project file to the content center directory
  • Map the Content Center Files to this directory.

All Information without guarantee and at your own risk. It is hard to provide an solution based on some screen shots.

Sorry, where are your CAD files located in the vault?

In "Designs" or in "Systemes/Inventor"?

If your Inventor files are located in "Designs", this is your working path in the project file.

Thanks to everyone, Think I am getting somewhere now.

No Red Arrows now

georgeschebler_0-1645642874927.png

This mapped to root now and has content center files linked

georgeschebler_1-1645642965585.png

On this didn't understand that is was mapped .\System\Inventor always thought it would be mapped to somewhere on the local computer drive like the C Drive

Seems to be working correctly now. Please review and let me know if that looks correct.

What should I do to insure the other cad people have this in their setup now?

Thanks again

Lock/release (or check out with an administrator) your project file in Vault so nobody else can modify it.
Set in Vault menu Tools > Administration > Vault Settings > Files (tab) > Define (Working Folder) > Enforce... both a consistent working folder and project file for all clients. This is the safest way.
This should make sure your other users will not have similar issues, as long as they select the correct project file to work in your Vault (in Inventor menu > Get Started tab > Projects).

Understand wanting to have the enforce consistent project file. Still not sure about what the enforce consistent working folder does?

I get that it makes everyone have the exact same file/folder location on their machine/computer. Is that necessary? Will Assembly loads get confused pulling components if our working folder structure is different on our local drives?

Is it looking at that when you load things where the last local structure was?

Know we had an issue with one assembly it thought the components should be on the desktop of the computer for some reason.
