What is the right workflow if you have an assembly with multiple identical valves, but they need a different TAG number (from P&ID). Physically it is only 1 ipt-file used for all the valves, so custom iProperty "TAG" will be the same in all valves. Should i copy/rename the ipt-file for each instance of the valve?

Hello,

Sorry, it is not supported currently, here is an idea for it which is still gathering support now.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/custom-iproperties-instance-level/idi-p/7466909

The workaround more like create multiple customized property say Model 1, Model 2,..., Model 10 with ten different value and try to retrieve each value for different instance.

Hope it helps!

Here's a couple of things you can do...

1.  Rename the browser node in the assembly to the P&ID tag for those given valves

2.  If you are using Inventor 2018 and have Inventor 2018.1 installed use the MBD Definitions and apply general notes pointing to those valves in your model.

However if the tag changes on the P&ID, well you have to manually update your model.   @cbenner any other thoughts?
