Using Inventor with a touchpad on W540

Hello all,

I'm trying to use the pan, zoom, and rotate functions in Inventor on my W540 laptop running Windows 10 with a touch pad.  Two fingers bring up zoom which seems OK, but I haven't found any combo that gets me pan and rotate.  Function keys also don't produce any movement.  Are there any settings that let me use the touch pad for display control?  I have a space mouse at my desk, but don't want to have to drag that out when I'm on the road.

Thanks,

Steve

@hshorst not sure if these links will help but seems others have had similar issues.

How to properly use the new Lenovo touchpads/trackpads

The W540 and its atrocious TouchPad

Lenovo's new keyboard & trackpoint are awful and you're never getting your old one back! (caution, offensive language in rant)

How To - Enable / Disable Your Touchpad

Best thing I could find:

  • Disable the TouchPad in BIOS
  • Enable "Classic TrackPoint only" mode in the Windows driver

Hi hshorst!

I guess this is a common problem with using Inventor without a mouse.

If we have to get other options such as pan or free orbit, we have to assign keyboard shortcuts for it from tools > customize.

or you should do an extra click with your touch pad on the pan or orbit icons available in right side edge of the workspace.

After clicking you can click the touch bar and pan or rotate.

I am attaching screenshots of the same, hope I am answering your query. If not please feel free to elaborate.Capture.PNGCapture1.PNG
