Use One General Table on Multiple Sheets

Is there a way to create a general table on Sheet 1, and then use the same table on Sheet 2, where they are linked such that if I change the table on Sheet 1, it will have those same changes on Sheet 2?

Preferably, I'd also be able to hide a certain row on Sheet 1 but show it on Sheet 2 if I wanted to.

I know I could probably achieve this with excel, but Excel doesn't work super well with Vault.

The exact situation is that on some of our vendor assembly prints, due to multiple reasons we do not use the parts list for the parts but use a general table. On page one is the parts list with one option, and on page 2 is the parts list with another option, but the only difference between the two is that one part is swapped out for another.

I think the only way you can do this is by linking to an Excel file.  Can you describe what difficulties you're having with Excel & Vault?  I used to have pretty good luck with this on Inventor drawings.

We use revision control in vault, but we can't change the state to released on Excel files. Additionally, there is no prompt to check out the excel file on opening it, so we have to check it out before getting it so that it opens as read-write.

Check to ensure that Excel files, as they are checked into the Vault, are being assigned to a category that is supported by your Lifecycle definitions, then you should be able to release them as you would a CAD file.  Also, when you open the files containing these spreadsheets, try Open From Vault, and Check Out All. Doing that, you should be getting the spreadsheet checked out along with the assembly and drawing. Of course, you'll get an error if trying to open something that is in Released state, but that's expected.

This is a slight tangent to the original topic, but you did mention you had had success with Excel and Vault.

I've inserted a table onto a drawing using Annotate -> General Table -> Browse to my Excel file

On my computer, everything works fine and as expected, however on a colleague's computer the linked file is unresolved - I believe it has linked the excel file using a reference to the C:/ location on my PC.

I tried instead clicking the Browse Vault icon when locating the source file and placing via that, however I just get a "Failed to open document" error when I try to place it.

Is there anything I am doing wrong in this approach? Or any other methods to use a table for a Vaulted spreadsheet so it will be accessible to others not working from my local machine?

I am using Inventor and Vault Professional 2019.

I think the problem has been "resolved", an issue with the way my colleague had opened it up.

The only complaint I now have about this method is the lack of ability to use data from other tabs in the spreadsheet now, or being more selective about the data inserted.

Is the only alternative the Paste Special?
