Unfold/Refold

Hi all,

First of all I am a very basic user to Inventor. I manage to do my normal work, but am very new to Sheetmetal part of Inventor. So I need help please, if you would be so kind.

I downloaded a STP file from GrabCad of a toolbox/cart. I would like to modify (make it a bit bigger, maybe two side by side configuration). But it seems that the cart are made of solid bodies? But then again, when I zoom in on the bends, it looks like sheetmetal?

I opened one of the drawers to edit. Converted it to Sheetmetal and set the default to 1mm. However, I can not unfold it. I even created a Flat Pattern (but nothing happened. I mean, it didn't fold flat). Clicked on "Go to Folded part" and tried to use the unfold option. But it doesn't allow me to select reference A. All the "fold lines" are marked in yellow. I have searched the internet as best I can for an answer, but came up empty handed.

I would appreciate (at least a nudge in the right direction) any help. I have attached the Assembly for review?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Regards,

Théo.

An assembly must include parts to be of any use.

In Inventor, parts are in the form of *.ipt files.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

When I open the Cabinet assembly, I then open the drawer assembly. In this new window, I have the part file (attached to this reply). This is the file that I described above that I am having a problem with.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Théo.

Hi all.

Ok, so I came across an article (linked here https://designandmotion.net/autodesk/inventor/converting-models-sheet-metal-inventor/  ) that solved my problem. It was rule number 2 that was the issue. So I set the sheetmetal defaults to the thickness of the model, and I could use the unfold feature.

I hope this also helps someone else that has/had this issue.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Kind regards,

Théo.
