Underline overlapping brackets for median modeled dims

Hello,

I use "Retrieve Model Dims" to show nominal dimensions while modeling the median size when using asymetric tolerances. This results in an automatic underline to show that the dim isn't to scale which is fine, but it also seems to render an ugly underline on the brackets that overlap the bottom of the text. Is there any way to fix this?

I am using Inventor 2022.5 and cannot update to 2023 or 2024 due to internal requirements. Seems like this has been an issue with at least 2004 looking through older posts.

Hi! This is the first time I see such underline behavior. I cannot seem to find the workflow leading to it. Please share the files in zip here or send it to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I can take a look to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue,

Please try these steps to see if you can reproduce the behavior.

1. Create a feature and open dimension properties to assign asymmetric tolerances (deviation, limits and fits, etc)

2. Set Evaluated Size to "Median". In my example, the 3D model should be Ø0.4075"

3. Open a Drawing and drop a view into a drawing, and grab dimension through "Retrieve Model Annotations..."

4. Go into "Edit Dimension Style", then turn on Alternate Dimensions

5. You should now see a thick underline on any of the separating the alternate dims. The underline under the dimension is likely to denote "not to scale" dims although a toggle to turn on or off would be nice.

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the workflow! I have to admit that this is the first time I see the behavior and exercise the exact workflow. I am able to reproduce it on 2020. It looks like a bug to me. I will work with the project team to understand the behavior better.

Thanks again!
