Unable to install Inventor 2021, error 1603

Hi everyone,

I am unable to install inventor 2021, neither from autodesk desktop, nor from the browser offline installer. I always get the error 1603. I have tried all online solutions I could find on the topic, including:

-multiple clean uninstalls, following this guide: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/download-install/remove-products/clean-uninstall, including reboots inbetween

-removing all remaining registry entries, following: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/download-install/remove-products/remove-windows-prod...

-Installing the newest license manager update, following:https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-licensing-service-downl...

I have also tried different combinations of the above mentioned methods, including deleting all autodesk files following other knowledge guides, not listed here, but to no success. I am at a loss and would appreciate any help.

The logfile says (some parts in German):

LicensingCustomAction.licIsSvcUpgraded [I] [13:49:01:002]: Running helper with params: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\10.2.0.4231\helper\AdskLicensingInstHelper.exe" upgrade isUpgraded

Hi,

thanks for the input, but I have followed the suggested tips multiple times.

Two additional bits of information:

-When I try to start the Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service, I get error 1053, following https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-... did not help either

-I am trying to install all autodesk products on another drive, E:. However, I also tried the default C:\Autodesk with no success

Hi! Did you download the gigabytes install files? It sounds like you tried installing via network, which requires stable and fast internet connection. Try downloading the install files to your local drive and then install locally.

Many thanks!

Hi,

yes, I did install via the browser method. I also tried following the steps suggested by @Anonymous (https://clintbrown.co.uk/2020/04/16/successfully-installing-your-autodesk-software/) but no success.

In the end, what does not work is the AdskLicensingService. I can not get that to run, no matter what I do. I only get

"service did not respond in a timely fashion"

At this point, I suspect it is a Windows issue.

Try stopping the service, it should restart itself.

I cannot stop it as it is not running.

It does not run on boot, it cannot be started manually and I have tried all suggestions listed above in an attempt to fix that, but no success.

What are your system specs?

Can you show image of these three files for 2021 (including the file size)?

I have now removed the files, as they were no longer necessary. However, they almost certainly are not the problem. I say that, because I tried multiple times again, to no success. Furthermore, I am able to run Inventor 2018, so a download or file corruption is highly unlikely.

Other services are unable to start, like the BITS service for example. Hence, neither Windows update nor the DISM/SFC scan and repair tools work (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-fix-background-intelligent-transfer-service-bits-problems-windows...), not even when choosing a fresh Windows ISO image file as a source.

I believe, I have no option but to set up a fresh windows installation.
