TUBE AND PIPE - HOW CREATE CLAMP FOR TUBE?

Hello !!!

I would like to know, as I insert in my montage, this "CLAMP" (if I know what it is called in your language) .... For this reason I inserted the image, to facilitate the understanding ....
I ask:
1 - How do I insert it in the assembly?
2 - How do I create an authorship for this type of situation?

LOL.... you stumped me finally!  This is something that I have never worked with myself, and there is nothing built in to Tube & Pipe for creating these.  😕

However,... a friend and fellow Expert Elite, Adrian Salariu did create a workaround for these years ago, and here is where he describes his process.  I will try to tag him into this conversation, but I don't know if he is still active in these forums. @salariua ... are you still there?

There is not much I can add and that blog post explains it all in detail but I would think twice before authoring them as T&P fittings and I would rather constrain the clamps.

Using it as T&P branch fitting will break your route and you might end up spending a lot of time fixing, and constraining your route.

I think I understand that you are trying to tell me that I should create a clamp, just like a common object then, and insert it in my assembly? By the way, very good your tutorial !!!

You are correct, I would model the clamp and then place and constrain it in the assembly. Placing it as branch fitting will create a node and that interrupts the route and you then need to re-dimension re-constrain the route again 😞

I have created a special type of iPart clamps for cases like in your example. The iPart would prompt for clamp size (pipe diameter) and stud length (that wold be your threaded rod that holds the clamp).

Hi @alexandrelongo ,

needed some time to find the files and to test how I was doing it; I haven't done T&P since 2017...

The attachded file is an iLogic part and while in your T&P assembly you can use Place iLogic Component, I don't recommend it as you can't control the filename... to long to explain... there is a better way.

The file has an embedded form which allow you to specify the length, mounting plate thickness (distance between nuts), and if to use nut mounting or not (you might be welding the rod and not bother to nut it up). When you finish with your configuration press enter for the file to update and then click generate file which will create a copy in a "Members" subfolder. Always use the master part to generate members as it checks if the file exists on disk already, keeps them all in a single folder, etc...

You can then place the generated files in your T&P assembly and even drop them as branch fittings which you shouldn't but constrain them instead.
