Hello all , is there a way to compute total inches of length of an entire sketch on Inventor? i usually have to switch to auto cad , i would like to do in Inventor if possible.

Hard to make it parametric but if you have a length dimension on every sketch entity you want to measure you can add all op them in parameters

Its for computing inches of knife rule for quoting cutting dies. Like i said i have a way to do it on autocad , I was hoping there was a trick for figuring out in inventor, similar to how it measures the perimeter of a face.

Oh, ok,, I think try "Inspect", then "Measure". If you want more extensive, then right click on the name for the "iProperties" , then the "Physical" tab. Then select what materials you're using. Good luck.

There's a cumulative option when using the measure tool as well.  A little green "+" sign appears in the blue margin (it's not the fixed "+" at the bottom right of the measure window).  I'm not terribly good with it, but see if you can use it for your purposes.

I agree with what @Mario.VanWiechen is suggesting. Create a new total length parameter in your parameter table and define it as the sum of all of your other dimensions that represent an edge length. Something like Total_Length = d0+d1+d2+d3 etc. You may have to add dimensions to your sketch that you normally wouldn't bother with, like arc lengths, but once done it will update dynamically. I don't know if that's faster than exporting to dwg, but it should work.

In the sketch, inspect tab > Region Properties > Choose the profile > choose dual units it needed does the same as if you manually added perimeter:
