Symmetric part become a-simyteric after fillet

Hello Inventor users Smiley Very Happy

I have a symmetric part. when I use the fillet command , the order of the edges picking can change the result

you can see at me screen cast:

http://autode.sk/2q2gkpd

that one order create a height different between the centers and other make no harm (the part stay symmetric)

this is very simple parts , more complex part when I select a lots of edges I can't see that the part loose his symetric

Why Inventor doing that ?????

Best regards

Can you attach *.ipt file here?

This is fairly easy to demonstrate logical solutions with sketch geometry.

I attached the part , but this problem not related to a specific part

Left solution is tangent to two perp lines.

Right solution is tangent to vertical line and tangent to arc.

Only one logical solution.

Hi

Sorry , I didn't understand what is your point?

Why the order of the edge secting change the result?

This is a very simple example.

I thought it was pretty obvious?

Fillets become really interesting with complex castings or injection molded parts.

Hi! Yes, the edge selection order does matter particularly when the two consecutive fillets radius equals or exceeds the gap. You can create the fillet in different order just on one side to see the behavior. The fillet face can move depend on which edge is filleted first. For your case, I would create two separate fillets. First, create a fillet by picking the top edges. Second, create another fillet by picking the bottom edges.

Many thanks!
