What does the shaded circles and open ones next the the part or assembly icon  signify

I think it maybe whether a part is fully or partially constrained in an assembly.  Not 100% certain though

Hi! Yes, it is the Degree of Freedom status symbol introduced in 2022 browser. Go to Tools -> App Options -> Assembly -> check "Enable redundant relationship analysis" so that the analysis is more up-to-date and more comprehensive.
