Suddenly there's a failure when using "Serrated Profile"

Hello,

At first I'm not sure if this is the right word for the function, which is not working, because im using the german version of Inventor- i used google translate ^^.

In the screenshot you can see where the function is located and so on which function i mean.

So i am working on a project with some teammates. We're designing a gear and all of us are using Inventor.

We used the function serrated profile a lot but suddenly there appears a failure, when clicking on "serrated profile" which says : "invalid file format in file \DesignData\DesignAccelerator\Tables\SplinesInv\Inv_Splines.cfg.xml".

I checked this file and it is actually there. Ofc i cant say, if there is a failure in it, but i deleted it - same failure message. Then i coppied it back in the folder to keep the standard.

We also tried to reinstall Inventor and repairing didn't work either.

We really need that function to complete this project successfully so I'm hopefull some of you can help us solving the problem.

With kind regards

@mcgyvr

Thanks a lot for your fast response. I unziped the file, deleted the original one and coppied your xml file to the location.

Unfortunately I still have the same failure message. Do you maybe have any other ideas for solving the problem?

with kind regards

Hi! Is it possible the \DesignData\ folder not accessible all of a sudden? Please close all files and go to Get Started -> Project -> Folder Options -> Design Data. Where is it pointed to?

When you say you collaborate with your teammates, how do you manage your files? Do you use Vault? Or you rely on Windows File Explorer?

Many thanks!

Hello @johnsonshiue ,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, the DesignData did work for days. One day while working this weird failure appeared from nowhere.

I took a screen of your discription:

InventorForum_Projekt.PNG

I think its pointing to \DesignData\ (as it should??)

Yes, were working together on the project. The one who worked saves the project with "Pack and GO" . This file is beeing shared on Dropbox.

I don't know Vault , were using the standart windows explorer.

Hi! Is this ".\" located on DropBox or a shared drive? Are there multiple users accessing the same folder or same files at the same time?

I believe the most reliable collaborative workflow in Inventor is using Vault. It helps ensure any file is only edited by one user at a time. Also for Design Data and Library files, they can be located on each user's machine and locked up and managed by the Admin.

Many thanks!
