Style Standards and defaults

I'm having a hard time grasping the Styles Editor, specifically the "Standards". I'm not sure if these "Standards" can be thought of as Profiles or what?

For example: I've created 2 custom 'dimensions styles' that I can manually select from the style dropdown on the right side of the Annotate bar when dimensioning.  I want to control the default chosen 'dimension style' because it must always be re-selected as it always reverts back to 'BY STANDARD'.

I've created 2 custom "Standards", thinking i would assign each one a different "dimension style" in the "object defaults" , but making any change effects all the standards so i don't see their purpose.

Tools > Application Options > Drawing - "Default Object Style" = Last Used.  I think it was called "sticky style setting" once.

To make it work, you have to follow the clicking order:  In a drawing - click Dimension - then select the style - then select the thing to dimension and place the dim.  From now on, every dimension will be placed using the selected style.

Hi! There are online videos and AU class recordings showing the Standards and Styles workflow. For a beginner, it can be intimidating. If I understand your request correctly, I think you will need to create two separate standard specific styles. Think of a standard as a plate and the styles are like different appetizers to fill the plate. Two different plates can have the same type of appetizer.

Please feel free to share a template file you are working on. We have quite a few Standards and Styles experts on the forum to help.

Many thanks!
