STEP import dialog closes atuomatically

Hello,

when I import a Step file, I always get an empty file after importing it, also the import options dialog closes after showing up.

I've tried it with different step files (also with step files generetade by Inventor)

I've also tried to reset inventor

That looks like something else is wrong ...

You don't have a choice of picking what type of Import you want either ... to leave it as a step, or fully translate it.

Make sure you have ALL of the updates installed first... if that doesn't work, I would either do a repair install or try the Inventor Reset Utility

Have you changed your default Standard templates?

Have you been experimenting with iLogic?

Can you attach a simple Cube.ipt and a Cube.stp that you created in Inventor?

Hi @Patrick1323,

could you try to first open an new part file and then start to import the step file.

But first of all, as already mentioned, check for your updated.

Happy New Year!

A little late to the party...  Smiley Very Happy

Please try the following:

1.  Exit Inventor

2.  Select the Windows start button and type in the search box the word CMD but do not hit an enter..  If you using WIn 10 just type in Cortana's enter box.

3.  When command prompt appears in the list, right mouse click on it and select run as admin.

4.  Navigate to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor <version>\Bin folder.

5.  Type Inventor.exe /install

6.  Wait a few minutes and restart Inventor

Did that help?
