STEP file wont save as .iam

Opening a STEP file and trying to save as .iam into PDM. It saves all the sub assemblies and parts but crashes out and will not save the top level assy.

Any ideas?

Hi! Have you installed the latest applicable updates? What Inventor release are you using? Did you submit crash report? If yes, please send an email to me (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com). I can take a look at the report to understand the crash better.

The workaround was to save it outside the PDM vault.

Johnson sent a possible fix of the GDI, which turned out to be the correct fix.
