spur gear: calculation indicates design failure
hi,
i recently got an idea to design a planetary gear system. By using a book I bought for designing (and calculating) machine elements, I made some basic test calculations for the first gear transmission.
Z1 = 8 and D1 = 20mm
Z2 = 13 and D2 = 32.5mm
m = 2.5
center distance = 26.25mm
there are some design conditions so i cant just change 1 thing and make it work. It has to be a specific amount of teeth and not particulary a gear ratio. These values are important to make sure that overall, the planetary gears fit together. So they should be fixed.
When trying to add these calculations into the spur gear design tool in Inventor, i always get the same "calculation indicates design failure" message. Im not sure what causes this, i'm not a gear expert. But i think it has something to do with the life expectancy under certain conditions. But if that's the case, there is still no explanation to the generated gears going into eachother. It seems like the teeth always go into eachother.
Would be nice if someone could explain to me what is causing this and how to fix it.
