Split surface into segments

Anonymous
Not applicable

Good day sirs and madams.

I need to split a surface into different surfaces based on a sketch containing several squares. This is necessary in order to assign different material properties to each 'square' later in Nastran for analysis.

I have projected a 2D sketch onto a surface, however, it doesn't seem possible to select the sketch from within the split tool.

A possible solution may be to use the patch tool and create a patch from every square, however, this seems unreasonably cumbersome.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Regards,

Julian

Too many lines. (Why create many lines for one line?)

 Zigzag

or

Pattern

See attached pattern.

I think you can build the rest of the cylindrical surface around this.

Post back if you have trouble.

maybe patch is the way forward but use pattern ...

it can be improved a lot. first pattern in sketch1 is not needed, now that we use patch but you get the idea on where I was going with it. and circular pattern can be done with Middle option.

check attached.

Edit:

Improved version attached.
