Hi

How do i make this surface smooth. It currently has creases.

Also sketch 1 has 2 x semi-circles. How do i include these in the part. Can i mirror these 2 so as there is 2 on the bottom of the part. Please see attached picture.

This is a part i am copying so it is not for manufacturing. Maybe it would be best to create this part in normal solid modelling

Any help appreciated

Regards

Peter

Use Die Formed Lofted Flange rather than Press Brake.

But there are other problems as well (your Cut features are not Normal to the part).

Do you have access to r2015? (iProperties indicates this is a 2013 file)

Thank you for the good example.

Can the 2 semi-circles be implemented into the part like in the attached picture from post#1. Is this possible?

Thanks

HI!

Yes, sure...

...but, don't expect that inventor will flat these "punch features". Inventor will only flat the folded part, not any plastic deformation caused by punch.

When you flat the part, you will notice that the punch features will maintain "folded", but it's normal, just like in real world.

Hi

This is now for a smaller version modelled by Carlos.I want to get the part the correct shape to fit the attached part (Test).

In the attached part (test) i am after ways of getting the correct measurements so i can make the part modelled by Carlos. In the attach part (test) sketches 8, 9 & 10 i have used as a guide so the part fits (carlos part). Is this how you would get the correct measurements to make the parts fit?

Thanks

Hi!

You can use techniques to make it easier like "in assembly context" modeling, or even using derive part.

Hi!

In blue, the direction youre trying to cut.

In red, the direction youre need to cut.

You did sketch 4 to do the "Face split". is donne.

Now, make a new sketch in "red face", project the edges from the "Face split" and cut.

Tips:

When you split the faces: instead pick the front, back (and top?) central faces, select only the front faces and select also the neighbourhood faces "for each side."

Edit all the split tools and do that.

Hi

Thank you....i changed the split tool...is this now correct?

I also projected the edges...does this now look correct?

Thank you
