Smart Assembly

I simply can't find a good solution.....

I have an assembly were 2 plates are welded together with a square structural shape from the Content Center.

This assembly we use a lot in other assembly’s but the length of the beam can be different, from 100 to 3000mm.

I know I can make an iAssembly of it, but then I have to make a list of all the different lengths.

And how can I do this when the beam I use is from the Content Center.

Anyone have a good solution?

I used an assembly this a lot in the past doing conveyors. You have a few choices.

You could make it a from not content parts, ...have it as an assembly file already made that is prompted for the length, when you put it into an assembly. Just renaming it

You could also make it from Ilogic (which is probably the way I would go)

As mentioned above, you have a few choices. I think an iAssembly would be your best bet, but I'm wondering, are the different lengths set lengths or can they be random?

If they are set lengths, iAssembly is a perfect fit.

***update....I meant iLogic***

If they are random and can be any amount, that's where I'd create the assembly where it prompts you for the distance.

If you don't want to do any of those and insist on making the assemblies a one-off, you can insert any Content Center part as a "Custom" part by selecting the check box in the insert dialogue box:
