Sketch Layers

My question is about layers in sketches - not layers in drawings.

I have an old model. This model is a universal starting point of many products (cardboard boxes) so I took the time to create layers for all of my lines so that when I create the DWG the lines will already be on the correct layer when I make the sketch visible in the drawing.

Now I want to make changes to my sketch but I cannot see how to assign layers to my sketch objects.

Have layers been removed from sketches?

ChatGPT says: Open your sketch, select the line, Access properties - In the Properties dialog, look for the Layer option. You will see a dropdown menu that lists available layers.

This is how I remember it but there is currently (Inventor 2026) no layer combobox.

I don't recall Inventor supporting sketch layers.

As @kacper.suchomski wrote, Inventor sketch elements do not have a Layer property, and have not since the beginning.

I see that ChatGPT is pretty worthless in this case.  How did you write your query?
