Skeleton - 3D sketch turns pink when I delete a "driven dimension"

My 3D sketch is partially green, but nothing is moving.

When I delete the dimension : (1530) => The sketch get Overconstrained.

ipt file enclosed - enjoy 😉

Hi!

I deleted all driven dimensions, the file reacts well.

Regarding the "green elements", a 3d sketch is more complex than a 2D sketch, so that can happen.

Tip: Try to drag manually the elements, if the structure is stable, carry on.

Using Inv25 with all updates.

Using Inventor 2024.

I'll try in 2025 release, thanks for the tips !

Hi! Inventor 3D Sketch Constraints behave very similarly to Inventor Assembly Constraints. It is always better to add ground (fixed) constraints. I can see a few free points that can be grounded.

Many thanks!

Works in 2025 !!!

Great improvement... just have to migrate all users and Vault 😉

Hmm,

If we ground points in the 3D sketch, how can I be sure it updates correctly on changes?

(I would have liked to see how many 'dimensions' that are missing, exactly as for 2D sketches)

Hi! Indeed, not all 3D Sketch geometry can be or shall be grounded. Just as in an assembly, not all components should be grounded. But at the same time, not all components should always be moving either. You may want to find out what particular sketch point or sketch line can be grounded.

Many thanks!
