Shift select not working in component pattern

After installing the 2018.3 update you can no longer use the shift key to select multiple component in a component pattern.  You can still shift select components and then start the command, but not after the command has been started.

You are right, it is a regression from 2018.2 and ticket INVGEN-15666 was created to track it down.
