Shift + middle mouse

From what I can find so far it looks like "Shift + middle mouse" should allow me to orbit the part and middle mouse should allow me to pan.

For some reason this isn't working for me, but it is for eeryone else in our engineering group.

Is this a setting that none of us can seem to find, or am I having some sort of issue with the software.

Thx for any help.

As far as I know, there isn't a setting that changes this.  Do you have a fairly basic mouse, or is it some sort of programmable one?  Is it a different mouse from what the rest of your office is using?

It is a basic mouse and it is the same as most everyone else in the group.

Does the MMB (middle mouse button) function ok in other programs?

If you hold it down and move your mouse you should be able to "pan" on this webpage. Does that work?

Odd.  The only time I've seen an issue similar to this was when a programmable Microsoft or Logitech (I forget which) mouse had the middle mouse button assigned to something else.  In programs other than Inventor, it appeared to behave normally, because in many contexts the alternate setting acted like a middle-click.  But it didn't work correctly with Inventor in particular.

That's why I was asking about programmable mice.  If yours is a basic mouse and otherwise seems to be working, I'm not sure what the issue could be.

Maybe you could try swapping with one of the other identical mice, to see if the behavior sticks with the computer or the mouse.

Not having grown up with AutoCAD, I don't use that key sequence

Have you tried using 'F4' and left mouse?

Yes did the mouse swap same thing. It's just my station. My mouse works elsewhere, others don't work at my station.

I hate to resurrect an old post, but I run into this issue regularly and haven't found a fix yet. It always fixes itself on its own, sometimes after reboot, sometimes after opening a new document. I suspect that sometimes it's the assembly size that affects this issue.

I still use "F4 + LMB"

I personally hate "Shift + MMB", probably just my imagination, but it is not as smooth.

Never let me down, ever.
