Sheet Metal ifeature Dimple Orientation

Hi Again all,

Well i read all the blogs about creating and extracting an ifeature dimple and i tried not to use revolve but i still cant get the centre point mark to be on the right plane so it doesn't create normal to an input point.

because it only recognises the feature of revolve as the only participating feature and not the face or the cut surrounding it.

how can i fix this?

thanks

Yes I read that one.

It must be a line somewhere that is projected in one of my sketches.

Ill go through it again now.

Thank you.

Hi! iFeature/Punch Tool extraction can be confusing sometime. The key to success is to properly manage feature dependency. You want to make sure the selected features to be extracted do not have any other dependency on geometry not participating in the extraction. Things like origin point, XYZ planes, and XYZ axes. Avoid using vertical or horizontal constraint.

I am able to edit the part you attached and create a good dimple punchtool. Please take a look at the file and let me know if you have additional questions.

Many thanks!

Yep Not sure what it is but i did everything that article said.

I still cant create a punch tool sheet metal ifeature with a centre point being involved in the revolved feature.

the centre point used in that initial line where the plane and sketches are based on is never included in the ifeature extraction so im confused to know how this can actually work.

Here the latest trial file attached.

The same problem

the orientation is wrong

again is it the centre point mark being present now in the revolve sketch and not on the cut or face sketch?

Got it.

I had to include the Work plane in the ifeature extraction and the orientation is correct now.
