Sheet Metal Flanges On Angles

I am trying to make a sheet metal part with flanges on different angles, the issue I have is the side flanges don't automatically trim to the other flanges. See the screenshot below for the areas circled in red. I know I can make the flange short and add a corner seam feature, but does anyone know a better way of doing this side flange that will automatically trim to the top and bottom flanges correctly?

For information, the rest of the part is just a contour flange on 2D line.

Hi Matt;

Create flanges as separate features. (They are separate ones in your example anyway). Then use "Corner" tool to trim flanges' faces.

Hello,

 

The Corner seam tool is the best way to trim to the other flange. And i always use the corner seam tool.

 

If you wanted to do it another way though, you could. Start a sketch on the side, project geometry of the inside sheet metal, offset by .1mm, or draw the lines you want, and dimension from the inside of the sheet metal.

 

Then add the face. Then in the face command, select the edge which is underneath bend, in the face command box. And select the edge you want the face to attach the bend to.

 

Then you will have the face you created, attached to the metal. And the face will be trimmed to the edges without the corner seam tool.

 

I have attached a print screened to show you the sketch that you will create the face form.

 

And the finished model.

 

In your sheet metal defaults, in Corner, 2 bend intersection. Have Arc Weld selected. And in Sheet .1 Gap size

 

This is trimmed to the edges like you said you wanted.

Thanks to both of you for your help, I ended up doing as you both suggested and made the initial flange shorter and just used the corner seam command. I marked the answer Thomas gave as the solution because my question was originally for an alternate way of making the flange. But you are right about the corner seam being easier than sketching the flange in etc.
