Sheet Metal Crashes

I am running Inventor 2018.2.3 Build 227.

About 90% of the time when I have a sheet metal part with a flat pattern already made, and I edit the folded part Inventor will crash. I then can reopen the part, delete the flat pattern, make the changes and re-flat pattern it and it will work fine.

It just appears that it wants to crash that 90% of the time if I don't delete the flat pattern first.

My company appears to be getting this issue across all of our computers in both newly made and parts that are year old.

Is this a known issue? Is there a solution other than the work around of first deleting the flat pattern? I don't want to accept deleting the flat pattern as a work around as this can screw up any drawing views that reference the flat pattern.

Thanks,

Aaron

Thanks,

The next time Inventor crashes (assuming you're seeing the crash report dialog).  Select the reports button and in the next dialog there will 3 files listed..  Hover over the file called dmpusrinfo.xml and notice where it's located.   Don't close the crash report at this point.  Get a copy of the XML and close the report.   Don't post the XML here but private message me and I will tell you your next step.

When this happens it doesn't seem to ever give the crash report page. It only gives a pop up asking if you want to wait for it to respond or force close.

OK..  I'm wondering if you have a C++ issue on your machine but you said others are experiencing it to?   For a test, follow the steps here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-r... on one machine exhibiting the behavior.  Does that correct the issue?

Update:  Also is Inventor 2018 updated to Inventor 2018.2 and 2018.2.3?

Hi Aaron,

Could you send me an email (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)? I would like to take a look at the reports and understand the crash better.

Many thanks!

As @ASchlaack stated..  They are not getting the standard Autodesk crash report..  To me it sounds like the standard Windows message about the product has stopped working what do you want to do.  Wait or end the application.

Hi! It would be great if you can share an example exhibiting the behavior. Another option to try is to update the graphics driver. It could be graphics related.

Many thanks!
