Shaft Designer + FEA

Hi,

I have designed a shaft using shaft generator (Design-->Power Transmission-->Shaft). Did all calculations and got the SFD & BMD, stresses etc., I wanted to run FEA to see the stress patterns on the designed shaft. Is it possible to import the load/support conditions I used while designing the shaft in to Static analysis environment so I can run the FEA from there. Please advice.

Hi

As far as I know, there is no such possibility.
Additionally (probably) you will have to manually edit the shaft model to extract the exact support and load surfaces, unless they are equal to the modeled shaft journals.

Remember that the FEA algorithm is different from the beam algorithm; don't be intimidated by the differences in results.
