Serious error - error loading segment AmGraphicsSegment in database

When trying to open an assembly, I'm getting this error message:

SeriousError_AmGraphicsSegment.jpg

The file referenced in the error message is just a small sub-assembly within the much larger assembly I'm trying to open.  When I click "OK" or the "X" the message just pops up again... endlessly.

1 - Does this error indicate that the sub-assembly is corrupt?

2 - Has anyone found a way to get out of this infinite error loop without force closing Inventor?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi! The error message indicates the iam file's graphics segment is corrupted. Try one thing real quick. Close all files and go to Tools -> App Options -> Assembly -> go to the bottom of the dialog -> uncheck "Enable Express mode."

Retry opening the iam file. Does the error persist? If yes, please share the files in zip with me directly at johnson.shiue@autodesk.com.

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue thank you very much for your reply.

To get out of the error loop, I had to force quit Inventor using Task Manager.  After restarting Inventor, the assembly opened just fine.  I don't understand why, but all seems to be working at the moment.

This problem has been plaguing my project for a few days now.  I work and save and open and close sub-assemblies and then randomly, this serious error pops up and the only way out is to force close the app using the task manager and lose some work. I have tried the fix mentioned above with no luck fixing the problem.

Hi! Though the error might be similar, it is possible your corruption is different than the other users'. I just want to double-check that "Express mode" has been disabled on your Inventor. But the error still persists.

Please share the files directly with me at johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to take a look and see if our internal debug tool can open the files.

Many thanks!
