Sending an Assembly to an Older Version of Inventor

I use Inventor 2009 Pro and I have a friend that uses the 2008 version of Inventor. Can I send him an assembly that he can open or can I only send individual parts in a STEP extension or any other extension that you may suggest?

Note: JD explained how to use Pack & Go so I know how to do that.

Thanks,

Bill

INventor is not backwards compatible.    So either export the entire assembly as a STEP file or you can do the individual files as STEP.  It all depends on what you friend needs.

You do not use Pack and Go for this.

Open the Assembly.

Save Copy as type STEP (*.stp)

They will get the assembly parts and all, but no assembly constraints, no feature tree, no Dynamic Simulation stuff.

Just parts and assembly.
