Selecting quadrant points on ellipse

Assume I have a sketch with an ellipse centred at the origin.  I wish to dimension this ellipse.  How do, for example, select the top centre point then the bottom centre point to set a vertical dimension?  It's a PITA inserting and positioning points manually.

Maybe I just don't speak Autodesk but I can never think up the correct keywords to find this sort of information in Help.

Hi,

Look at the screencast.

You don't have to select the top and bottom to fully define the ellipse.

Just select the ellipse and move the dimension vertical or horizontal and it will snap to one end point and the center.

But if you really want to dimension the end points you can create construction lines and dimension those.

Thanks, Frank, but I still want to e able to select those points.  Imagine this:

Say I want to put the mid-point of that line on the ellipse at the top.  How do I select that top point?  I tried right-clicking but I don't get offered the option.

I find it easier to add a construction line from the center to the top end or side middle and then use the intersection/line end point.
