Select a line drawn on top of another line

Simplified: If you draw a line. Then draw another line directly on top of this first line... (you'll see just a single line.) Now draw another line anywhere. (so now you have technically drawn 3 lines but only can visually see 2 lines).

If you try to dimension constrain the 3rd line to the other lines, you'll notice you can't easily select the line behind(inside?) the other line.

In AutoCAD you can just select 1 line and send to back. Then you can select the line you want... But in Inventor I don't see a way to select these lines...

Any recommendations?

With cursor on the lines, right click, select other.

A list should popup and you can pick which one.

If the overlapping line share same end points, there is no way to pick the correct end point.

Temporarily separate the 2 lines by remove constrain.

Just realized on my project that I had a plane visible where my projected line was... Thus making it impossible for me to see the line I wanted.  That includes right clicking and using select other.

Another option, which comes in handy more during assemblies and constraining, is to hover over the line or area and leave your cursor there a few seconds. A dropdown menu will appear, and you can select whatever geometry is near the cursor. It's called "drilling" or some such thing. It will also highlight the line/geometry as you scroll through the list.

and after trying out this "select other" option, it's just the same thing but probably quicker aha. Stick with select other.
