Good morning all,
I was wanting to make a section of a part from a sketch. Created the sketch, chose section and I get "this sketch does not contain a valid section line". I have used this before but cannot figure why it wont let me do it now.
A couple questionswith this; is it possible because I am projecting geom that it is causing an error? Or possibly to many angles?
Tks

Hi Talayoe,
Maybe it is related to the issue described in this thread?:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Is your sketch at the sheet level or at the view level?
Works fine here.
Attach your file here that exhibits this behavior.
JD,
View level. Click on the particular view, click create sketch, go to town...
John,
I tried restarting and got the same result.
Curtis,
I read thru this and it seems very similar, but why are all these other fellow able to create one and I am not.
An aside, I am able to create one, following the exact same steps but not projecting any of the geom within that view. It doesnt really help if there is nothing to grab onto tho, now does it?
Confusing. O_o

Can you attach this file here so that I can understand exactly what section you are trying to create (or at least a screenshot)?
Absolutley! I did screen shot it above, but maybe its not quite clear. I will leave the sketch open as I would 'like' to see it so you can get the jist of what I am attempting and failing at.
Try this, I deleted and redrew the section lines. Don't think it liked the number of line segments.
Good Morning,
That must have been the problem. Instead of making so many segments I tried a couple different ways with some vert/horz constraints and it worked great (very similar to how you showed).
Thank you very much for helping me get to the bottom of it! Much appreciated!
