Save Part Centered

Is there a way to save a part centered on the solid body of the part itself and not centered on the origin?

I create a template file that contains multiple solid bodies and then derive them individually to create my parts.

when I try and save the part in the ISO view, it opens the next time on the origin and appears to be a blank part file.

the part: I click save in this orientation before I close.

the part: this is how it appears when I open it the next time:

I turned on the visibility of the center point (for clarity.)

Open the part and orient it the way you would like it to open.  Then Right Mouse CLick on the View Cube in the appropriate orientation and select "Set Current View as Home".  There are two options under that: "Fixed Distance" and "Fit to View".  This should ensure that the next time you open the part it opens on the new Home View.

This does not work for parts.

My part still opens at the origin.

This has worked for me for as long as I can remember.

Can you Attach a file here that this technique does not work?

These are Inventor 2021 part file and template file.

I modeled the part off center from the origin on purpose to show the discrepancy.

I turned the Center Points on for reference.

I can only assume that you did not fully understand the instructions by @CGBenner

Open the Attached files - report what you observe...

ok, so yours remain centered.

what did you do different than right click on the cube, select Set Current View as Home and choose Fit to View?

was I supposed to choose Fixed Distance?

@CGBenner , you didn't specify which option to choose Set Current View as Home, did you?

@TheCADWhisperer thinks I can't follow instruction.

I did not specify because it's up to the user to decide which one gives the result they want.  Fixed Distance will create the Home view based on the current zoom of the view.  Fit to View will zoom to fill (almost) the screen... similar to AutoCAD Zoom Extents.  I would recommend trying both to see which one gives you the best result.

I did try both as I normally use Fit to View when I reorient a part after creation.
It did not keep the centering upon save/close/open.
The fixed distance option does hold the part in location as set with Set Current View as Home after save/close/open.
I know I've never had to set this view as home in previous versions of inventor.
My OCD would have noticed it by now! LOL.
Thanks for your help.
