REV BLOCK STATIC VALUE OVERRIDING...

We are working through the quirks of our new system upgrade form 2015 vault and 2015 Inventor Pro to 2017 Vault Pro and 2017 Inventor pro.  We have run across something strange.  When we are creating a new revision back moving a file from release back to work in process.  Every time we check the file out it over rights our fields in the rev block with static values.  For example we fill out the description, then fill out the date and modified by fields in the iproperties and check it in.  The next checker then opens it up and checks out the file and a blank static value is placed over the description and the date field, and the modified by changes to that persons windows log in name.  For example iproperties show S.SHIVERS and then if I check it back out it changes to PCS//sshivers.  How do I stop this from happening?

Hi S.shivers

This is more than likely due to the fact the Vault has be set to control your Rev Blocks.    To stop this happening you will need to go to  Tools -> Administration -> Vault Settings -> Behaviors -> Properties -> Revision Table   and ensure that the 'ENABLE REVISION TABLE CONTROL' is unchecked.

This will prevent the Vault from accessing your Revision tables so your entries won't be overridden by the vault.

Hope this helps...

Rod.

Ok thank you I will look into that.  When we were setting up the new system they told us that it would automatically put the new rev line in when we bumped the rev but no one said anything about the fact that it would over right what we entered in there.  I will look into this and see if I have any more questions thank you

Here is our rev table settings.  I tried checking Description, Date, and Modified by so that they would be the same as the iProperties.  This over wrote these 3 fields to blank.  Is there any way to use this feature where it does not over write these fields?

I just figured this out.  When I check out the file and the pop up window that comes up asks if I want to update all properties if I tell it now it does not over write anything.  Is there any way to turn that off?  I would hate to go to every computer and tell it not to prompt me again on this.update prompt.PNG
