Hi All

I am working with Elliptical Head and need to make a repad which is rolled both ways.

please help me to make repad with same radius as head radius on both ways.

The way I've always made repads is to:

- Derive the tank shell or head (or whatever) into a sheetmetal part.

- Then create a sketch to use as the work features to make the repad.

See attached example of repad at nozzle opening.

Notes:

The attached example is a cartoon.

This is only one of many ways to accomplish this.

with your provided Solution i am able to create a repad, but now i am not able to make that in to  flat pattern

Because you have deformed double curvature you would have to use the Unwrap command.

I don't recall if this command existed in Inventor 2020.

The normal flatpattern command won't work b/c it's a complex surface.

You have to use Unwarp on the 3d Model tab (I don't have it on my older version of Inventor so can't tell you how good it works).

how we can show both way radius in drawing with Unwrap command as we normally shows with Flat pattern?

Hi! In the drawing, you can include the surface (View -> Recovery -> Include surface bodies) and hide the solid body. Is this what you were looking for?

The way I would normally do that is to show the 'formed' part, and take sections through that part at the proper places to show the curve. It's probably a spline, so you would want to manually add a radius by creating a sketch on the section view and overlaying an arc on the spline, then close the sketch and dimensions that arc. I know of no other way to show that curve due to the part being a complex surface.

Also, You can show the flatpattern above or near the main 'formed'view for that part so the shop guys can easily see the relationship of the dimensions to the flatpattern. I always include a overall length and overall width dimension on the flat pattern for the burn table guys.
