  1. I have an assembly open
  2. I opened a part from the assembly.
  3. I "saved copy as" the part, to a new name.
  4. I started making changes to the original part, stopped, and closed the part without saving.
  5. I returned to the assembly, and the changes to the part are still there.
  6. I don't want to close the assembly, and reopen, as I had made other changes to the assembly before opening that part.

So what I expect Inventor to have is a function, that will "reload" the original part file.  I would expect that function to be called "reload part" or "refresh part".  And I would expect to find it by going to the browser tree, right clicking the part, highlighting "component", then it would show up in the list under "replace", or "replace all".

So is this a function that is in Inventor, and I just cant find it?

I believe you can click save and then when the dialog box appears where you can click Yes/no on what to save, just say no to that part.

If you ever want to do a copy of a part and replace in the assembly, there is a tool in the assembly Tab > Productivity Panel called save and replace..It will Do a save as of the part and do a replace behind the scene. Now the new part will be in the assembly. You don't have to do a save as and manually replace.

Just open the part again.
