Random 3D path

Hi,

I am trying to create a random 3D path in inventor within a cylinder. I would like the path to start and end at a specific coordinate on either end of the cone but I don’t know how to do this.

Thanks

Hi @sabrinam97,

Define random - Inventor doesn't really do random - it does exactly what you tell it to do (within reason).

What workflow/ output are you trying to achieve with the path? Once we know what you're aiming for you can get more relevant advice.

Hi,

I would like to plot a random series of points on the top face of the cylinder. It doesn’t have to have any specific pattern it just must not be uniform in any way. I know you can do it manually but was wondering if there was an autocad function or something.

Thanks

You have mentioned cylinder.

You have mentioned cone (a cone is not a cylinder, a cylinder is not a cone0?

You have mentioned AutoCAD (Inventor is not AutoCAD, AutoCAD is not Inventor)?

You have mentioned (the top face of a cylinder) are you referring to one of the planar faces?

Can you attach your *.ipt file here?

Can you link (or attach) images of something similar that already exists in the real world that resembles your Design Intent (or is this a completely novel design never before seen by man, woman or beast?).

Constrain points using planes and axis and then using the 3D sketch tool, connect the dots.

If it is something beyond this, add some pics showing specifics.

Did you intend to include an image, file or link?

Are you using your email to Reply or are you using web forum?

Edit:  I almost forgot to ask, "What version of Inventor are you using, or are you using AutoCAD?"
