Hello there fellow inventors,

I am having trouble with extruding this item.

Hello,

 

You didn't constrain the point in the corner. So it was not a closed loop.

 

Use coincident constraint to attach.

 

I have added print screens so you can see what i mean.

 

Also you need to fully constrain your sketch.

 

And it would be best to constrain it to the center point like i have in the print screens.

Hello,

 

If you look at my print screens you will see the constraint needed, because it is selected in the 2nd print screen.

 

Select the coincident constraint.

 

Then select the end of the arc, and the the end of the line.

 

Then that will constrain them together.

Constraining is a method in which you set limits to what something does, if it's fully constrained then you've basically defined everything so that it can't move freely.

 

An example is if you draw a square. First, all corners of the square have lines that are constrained to each other, meaning it's a closed loop. Second, you can set an angle constraint between different lines, this will fix the line in place at a certain angle. Finally, you can set the line lengths, once this is done you will have a fully constrained sketch. This is because you've limited the ways in which the sketch can move to only the parameters you've set, if you didn;t set the parameters it would move freely.

Hello,

 

You're welcome.

 

You also need to fully constrain your sketch.

 

Do this by constraining to the center point, like in my print screens.

 

And fully dimension your sketch.

 

When you have fully constrained your sketch, it will go purple. And will say Fully Constrained in the bottom right hand corner.

 

The bottom right hand corner will also tell you how many dimensions you need to Fully Constrain.

 

It is always best to fully constrain your sketches.
