"Failed to create Linear Dimension" Error Message on simple sketch

I have , to me, is a simple sketch.. sketch is fully constrained.. i am trying to add a line a dimension it, but when i do i get this error message repeatedly. I have found an existing inventor case # for this error message that gave me some steps for a workaround that included changing my systems decimal to "." or "," but that was not a solution to me.. i have also tried switching off the infer constraints, which i normally keep on, that also was not a fix.. Am i doing something wrong?

The line is not in your file.

I  added a vertical line and can't dimension it to another vertical line.

After deleted vertical constrain, I can add the dimension.

Looks like you got too many constraints and way over constrained the sketch.

the line is not in my file, because it is a simple horizontal line.. i can draw any other shape or even a vertical line and it works fine.. when i draw a horizontal line, there is no horizontal constraint for me to delete (as i have the auto option off) still doesnt allow the dimension

Too many constrains.  Might have some circular reference.

Don't know how to fix it.  Need to delete constrains.

A few things that can prevent this:

Don't constrain to patterned and mirrored sketch.

Split into a few sketches.  Project only what you need from one sketch to another.

I had this error yesterday for the first time, and it seems like a bug; because after checking all constraints and "giving up", I simply deleted the line, added it back (without changing or moving anything/I swear), and it worked again (no error). Also, I have never seen this error before (14yrs on Inventor).

i agree, i actually saved the file as another name, restarted both my system and inventor and voila, it worked.

Yup...there was no rhyme or reason to it, and I had a very simple sketch where it was easy to check all constraints (picture a rectangle...LOL).
