For some reason this punch tool does not like it when you have to edit it i had the sketch on the other side of the face so i redefined the sketch to the face it is on now and then i changed the face to the opposite side like it was set up for and i get an error.

No inner bend radius = inconsistent material thickness = probably not going to flatten properly..

Is this supposed to be a shearing/lanced tab too (tear)?

Which requires a special die vs one that can be made in a cnc punch/turret press and then brake press to form?

Due to kfactor,etc... lance type features can be "tricky" in Inventor to get them to flatten properly without any extra "gap"..

Your Sketch2 has Projected Origin Center Point and appears to be missing Tangent Constraints (one side is tangent, but no constraint, the other side is not tangent).

Your Sketch3 has unnecessary projected geometry appears to be missing Tangent Constraints (one side is tangent, but no constraint, the other side is not tangent).

You have to be careful of parent/child relationships.

The tab is formed when the punch the louvers out i'm not sure exactly how they do it. they use the tab to connect an inner ring and then they kind just bend them over by hand and run it through a roller that presses it down. My concern was why it would not be edited if you redefine the sketch to the opposite side of the part to punch it out the other way.

Hi! I tried using one sketch to drive the iFeature/Punchtool. Please take a look at attached files. I think this is a more reliable solution. To insert it back, you need to pick front and back faces of a sheet metal part.

Many thanks!

I think that will help a lot! i just wasn't sure if it was the punch tool giving problems because of me redefining a sketch plane to somewhere else or not.
