Projecting Geometry in Inventor Drawing

I am currently working on a drawing and I am having problems projecting geometry on a sketch.

I have created the sketch on the view level (select view and hit 's') but when I select the geometry to project no geometry is created.

The view that I am trying to project is on a section view and which I think may be part of the problem.

Is there a way tio get around this?

In the 3d section view, you can't .. I wasn't able to.

Post a screen shot or the parts so we can see what you're trying to project.   It might be something you can sketch easy, or done via a work plane ..but we need to see more information to answer it .

Hi Mike,

I have attached a screenshot of the drawing. In the bottom right I have highlighted the view that I am sketching onto to project geometry. The bottom left view is the view used to generate the highlighted section view.

I hope this helps shed some light onto the problem.

Regards

I was able to in multiple types of views.   My only suggestion is prior to the sketch.. I advise people to double click in the view, have the pop box come up ..close it and then try. I always make sure I know it's the active view...

Make sure you have all the patches and updates installed too...

Hi Mark,

Thats perfect, it worked after trying your suggestion.

What I find odd is that when I was trying before, the Project Geometry' button was accessible i.e not greyed out.

I have also tried another sketch as a test and some geometry would project but other object would not.

I will keep this tip in mind for future work.

Once again, thank you.
