Project Storage Options?

Hi All. Is it possible to sort your projects in a folder like structure? We have hundreds of projects from many clients. It would make it easier for us if we could sort our projects into folders named by client. Any help on this would be appreciated cheers Stuart

We have a primary folder called Projects, inside of that are folders for:

1.) Our Stock Products

2.) Specific Folders for Customer work

3.) Folders for our Library items

4.) Folders for our jigs/fixtures

Each folder is controlled by it's own Project File. It has Library Folders that point to each of the existing folders (allows us to use existing items) as the library folders are Read Only.

Yes it is, you can store things just about any way you would like.

We have a jobs folder with customer folders under that and finally job numbered folders in each customer folder. The two places I've worked after college have used this structure and I'm quite partial to it now. We also use a project file for each job with libraries added for previous/related jobs and standard part libraries.

Hi All, thanks for the feedback.

I apologize for not explaining clearly and with enough detail in my first post.

What I meant by folder structure was how the actual project files are displayed in inventors home page or drop down list when you actually select your project.

Currently its just a list of project and in my case a very long list.

I was hoping that there could be a way to filter or sort them to shorten the list.

This is why I suggested a possible folder structure that you could select from a list of ipj files within that particular folder. Which in my case would be a list of folders that are client names and within this folder would be all the relevant ipj files.

I hope that this now makes the thread a little clearer.
