Project file, Inventor Material Library now InventorMaterialLibrary

We went live in 2023 maybe 2 months ago and i just noticed a lesser used macro has stopped working.

It would appear the material library name has changed from 'Inventor Material Library' to 'InventorMaterialLibrary'.

Playing around with the project file in some cases it adds it with spaces, others without. Cant tell why.

I dont think i'm doing anything special here, just browsing to our modified library like i've done in previous versions.

With spaces the path is empty and ProteinLibraryType 3, without spaces ProteinLibraryType 4.

I'm really confused as to what's going on here.

- What does ProteinLibraryType mean?

- How does it know the path if the path value is blank?

- Why does the name have no spaces?

- Should it always have been without spaces and it's been wrong until now?

InventorMaterialLibrary maybe modified.  Pen on the icon.

Inventor Material Library came from IV installation.  "I" on the icon.

My custom library doesn't have space in the name.

All installed library has space in name.

Hi! I guess it depends on how the Material Library is included in the ipj file. There are internally recognized libraries like Autodesk Appearance Library, Autodesk Material Library, and Inventor Material Library. In the Default ipj file, they are identified as 1, 2, and 3.

But if you create a custom project and the .adsklib file is mounted manually (as custom libraries), the library name will be the .adsklib file name.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson, what you're saying makes sense if it wasn't for the fact i'm doing the same thing as the previous four Inventor versions.

Project file is single user created new.

The library is added by me to the project under Appearance and Material.

The library was originally copied from i think OOTB 2016 installed library, then modified, and is named InventorMaterialLibrary.adsklib

It does not explain how i can get two different results adding the library under two different project files.

I've attached a jpg version of the original attachment incase the png is not visible.

Hi,

Your screen snapshot doesn't show the project Design Data folder. Can I suppose it's C:\DATA\Inventor 2023\Design Data? If this file (InventorMaterialLibrary.adsklib) was manually copied to this folder alone, and then was added to the project setting, then its display name would be the file name without file extension, which is InventorMaterialLibrary.

Can you please invoke the standalone project editor, and see what it shows there?

Thanks,

Yuming

Yuming, the screen print does show the project editor on the left but i have added a new capture below showing me hovering over the path.

It shows two different project files, both created identically, both pointing to the same path, with and without spaces.

In the upper example, if i try to add the same library again, it will add it without spaces.

I think the only way to proceed here is for me to refresh all the project files, ensure they have no spaces, then update the macro to remove the spaces.

Hi,

Can you expand the Folder Options folder, and see where the Design Data (Styles, etc.) points to?

E.g. below is mine on a testing project.
