Product Design Suite Ultimate Retired?

I was browsing the autodesk inventor blog and saw that autodesk has retired the 2017 Product Design Suite Ultimate that I currently use. It said that only Product Design COLLECTION suites would be available going forward! Will the current perpetual license users of the 2017 PDSU on a maintenance contract be upgraded to a Collection? Or is the only option going forward be to trade our perpetual license in for a subscription?

Well its a yes and no answer to your question.

In Aug 2016, Autodesk stopped the sale of (perpetual and term based license) all Autodesk Suite Products and going forward you either get the individual products or one of the Industrial Collections.

However if you still have a active maintenance plan of your perpetual suite license or a term based (single user or mult-user) you will continue to have access to the suite in the future.   But there's no indication if Autodesk will provide a single download to the suite or you  will have to download/install the applications like you do with the Industrial Collections.

But if you do have a perpetual license on an active maintenance plan and you decided to turn in and switch to term (due to Autodesk changing the cost of a perpetual license on maintenance plan) than you lose the use of the the suite.

Hi Chris,

Product Design Suite will be available for existing Maintenance contract holders to PrDS as long as the contract is valid. PrDS 2018 is being worked on and will be available soon. You can renew the Maintenance contract or convert to Subscription.

Johnson, thank you for the update.  I wasn't sure if the PrDS was going to be continued for 2018 or if I was going to get a 2018 Collection Suite.

I think it was released the following week (date of your email).. 

But Autodesk has made changes in who gets suites and it looks like the educational community no longer has access to the suite in 2018.  So you will have to go and request each application you need and get a license code generated for each application.

What is the product included in PDSP & PDSU? any different from the previous version as on 2017/2016?

My client is asking the Inventor in PDSP 2018 is a Pro version? he is maintenance active client.

Hi! If I understood it correctly, I don't think there is change in composition of the products in PrDS 2018. The Inventor included in PrDS should be Inventor Professional and Inventor standard version isn't available any more.

If you still have an active maintenance or subscription plan...

Product Design Suite Premium 2018 has Inventor Standard.  But you can no longer purchase (will subscribe to) Inventor Standard.  It has been discontinued unless you have it already in a suite.

Product Design Suite Ultimate 2018 has Inventor Professional.

Update:  But overall the suites have lost a couple of applications that was part of the 2016 & 2017 lineup.  I know one was showcase since its too been discontinued.
