Problems moving components of sub assy in main assy?

Hello,

I am putting together a conceptual model for a project.  I modeled an overhead crane and placed it into a main assy drawing.  In the sub assy drawing I can move the girders back and forth on the runway rails but not in the main assy.  I tried making the sub assy flexible in the main but that didnt work.  Any thoughts?  I have attached the main and sub assy files.

Hi

Assembly files contain only information about the positions and relationships of the component models; they do not contain the geometry.

Flexibility will only work to the extent that the subassembly allows - if everything in the subassembly is rigid, you can't move it in the parent file. You need to remove (or range values for) relationships in the subassembly.

Please zip all the component files and attach here.  The assembly files without their components are useless.

It works for me.

Do you have all updates installed?

The flexibility in the model works correctly.

I probably do not have all the updates installed.  The version Im running on this computer is several years old.  Guess its time to download the lastest.

I opened your assembly in Inventor 2023 (the version you posted), and it works for me just as you would expect.  The update level is 2023.5.3.  Not sure why it wouldn't work for you.  Good to be on the latest version, though (Inventor 2026.0.1 at this writing).
