Problem with Structural Shape Authoring in Inventor 2026

I am experiencing an issue when creating custom profiles for the Frame Generator (Structural Shape Authoring) in Autodesk Inventor.

In Inventor 2025, this process worked without any problems. However, after upgrading to Inventor 2026, I started encountering difficulties. I have already tried several solutions that I am aware of, but unfortunately without success.

I created the geometry as usual and defined the dimensions using parameters. When I then select the “Structural Shape Authoring” feature, no category appears to choose from, which I find very unusual.

Additionally, in the Content Center Editor, I added “Structural Shapes” to my own folder called “Template”. I also have write permissions for this folder, so that should not be the issue.

Despite these settings, no category is displayed during the authoring process, which prevents me from publishing the profile to the Content Center.

I would greatly appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Thank you in advance.

Have you applied updates to Inventor 2026?  The current latest version is 2026.2.1.

Yes, I have already installed the latest version. That was my thought as well, that it might be related to the version, so I updated it, but unfortunately without success.

Hello ,

thank you for the detailed description and screenshots.

Based on what you shared, this behavior matches a known issue in Inventor 2026 where the Category field may appear empty in the Structural Shape Authoring dialog, even though the Content Center library is correctly configured.

You can find more information in the following article:
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/The-Category-field...

Our development team is aware of this issue and is actively working on a fix, which is planned for a future update.

To help confirm whether this is the same scenario in your environment, could you please let us know:

  • Are you using multiple monitors?

  • If yes, does the behavior change if you move Inventor to your primary monitor or temporarily disconnect the secondary monitor?

As a temporary workaround, you can try:

  • Moving the Inventor window to the main display

  • Ensuring both monitors use the same display scaling (DPI)

  • Resetting the window layout

Please let us know the results.

Best regards,
 Roman

Hello Roman,

thank you for your support and the helpful information.

I have now installed the latest update, and I’m happy to report that everything is working correctly again.

The issue with the category field no longer occurs.

Best regards,
